The first annual meeting of the Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Italy Hub will be held in Palermo on November 20 and 21. The Hub was established last year, under the aegis of the European Commission, involving 17 founding partners including universities and local administrations, with the coordination of the National Research Council. In this first year of activity, the Hub has become a point of reference for the NbS community, both nationally and internationally, as it represents a new vision of urban and territorial development, with the specific mission of supporting collaboration between stakeholders with the aim of advancing scientific knowledge and its practical application to address the challenges of environmental, social and economic sustainability.
Representatives of international organizations, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of University and Research, and the European Commission will be present at the event, as well as industry experts and institutions, to discuss the importance of NbS for a country like Italy, which has a great wealth of biodiversity and many recovery interventions to be done on various fronts. The 20th, which will also be broadcast in live streaming, will be held in the Aula Lanza conference room at the Botanical Garden of Palermo, and includes the participation of over 20 exclusive speakers, interventions, projects, case studies, round tables and poster sessions: a day full of ideas and relevant content.
The 21st will instead be a day of restricted in-depth study, with inspections of various points of interest in the city of Palermo: Parco della Favorita, Villa Niscemi and Teatro della Verdura. The Annual Meeting is an unmissable event for researchers, public administrations, private individuals and government organizations, and for anyone who wants to understand and discuss the importance of nature-based solutions (NbS) with industry experts. The event, which will be held in the city of Palermo, is included in the calendar of celebrations for the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the remains of Santa Rosalia, patron saint of biodiversity as well as of the city itself.
